Duck and goose hunting is a sport like no other.
Enduring the early morning hours, physical exertion, brutal weather, and the sometimes empty skies for extended periods of time is not for everyone.
Many call it a sickness. They just may be right.
In the end, the hope is that the plan comes together and the reward is a great hunt. It doesn't always turn out that way, but it is this undying sense of optimism that brings you back, day after day.
Sometimes, it all works out right. The spread looks good, the blind is invisible, the weather cooperates, the calling is dead on, and the birds love it all. Oh yes, the birds. It's magical.
On other days, the pickings are slim. It may be a one bird, one shot, one kill day.
In either case, picking up a duck or goose with a band can make that hunt even more memorable.
On those days you can't keep the birds off you, a band is icing on the cake.
On those single bird bag days, it is evident luck is on your side.
So no matter how many birds you bag, welcome the hunt. It's not every day you pick up a banded duck or goose.
And in memory of those hunts, from time to time we showcase a photo from a fortunate and fellow waterfowler. Check them out.
