Not Your Ordinary Bands

This is not your everyday Iron. These goose and duck bands are unusual, different, and unique.

It's what makes these waterfowl bands ultra special. And some folks have all the luck when it comes to special. Meet them below.

Goose Band Mystery - Solved!

indiana-brian-kleitz-sterling-and-sheryl-goose-bandIndiana - Brian Kleitz

In the May of 2009, IronBands.com was contacted by the Kleitz family. One of Brian's parents explained their son had shot and killed a banded Canada goose earlier that year during a waterfowl hunt on January 17, 2009.

The Kleitz family further shared they had tried to learn more about the unique goose band on their own, but their efforts had so far been unproductive.

Powered Duck Band

This bird is sporting something extra special in addition to some Iron.

Besides the duck band, if you look closely you will notice a radio transmitter antenna mounted to its back.

Very cool.

Red Iron Goose Band

Here's one of my bands. My son and I were hunting a farm north of our house. It was in January 2007.

Man, it was cold! Snow on the ground, and the birds were staying on a neighbor's lake just to the west of us.

We set up for an evening hunt that day. About 3:00 the birds started to get up, a few at a time. Around 4:00 with icicles hanging from our noses, four birds started to fall in to our set-up.

Birds and Bands

This is probably my most special band of them all. I collected this bird in November of 2006 on an awesome flooded corn field shoot.

There were lots of greenheads using a puddle in the field and some Canada geese as well. We were able to shoot a four man limit of mallards and some bonus geese.

It was one of those days when the waterfowl gods were shining on us.
