In the Field Bands First Band Stories California - Mike Schlink

California - Mike Schlink

california-mike-schlink-mallard-son-duck-bandI have been hunting ducks in Northern California since 1980.

On Thanksgiving Day 2008, I shot my first banded bird. Since it was Thanksgiving, I had just a few hours to hunt that morning. To our surprise, the only bird we harvested was my mallard with "jewelry.”

This is a picture of my son Jackson with the prize mallard.
