Tennessee - Ron Stewart

tennessee-ron-stewart-first-duck-bandI'm 36 years old and was finally talked into going duck hunting this year.

I've been an avid fly fisherman for years and recently picked up hunting again after about a 20 year break.

I was only able to catch four hunts this year, but three of the four were absolutely stellar.

On my last hunt, I had still not harvested a drake mallard.

This is strange since I was hunting the Arkansas flyway and nearly half of the birds taken here are mallards.

In any event, I had just finished telling my buddy how much I'd like a greenhead.

When low and behold one locked up right in front of me.

First shot of the day, first drake mallard, and it was banded!

I can honestly say that I'm now officially hooked on the sport. That hunt and taking a banded mallard for my first is a memory I'll always cherish.
