The California Waterfowl Association does a great job in many waterfowl related areas.
One of their long-term initiatives, the Wood Duck Program, exemplifies this success and its impact is undeniable.
Through a collaborative effort of dedicated folks over an extended period of time, this group has effectively managed to grow Wood Duck numbers from dangerously low levels to a thriving population. It is a model that others can learn from.
Banding
One part of their comprehensive strategy includes an active monitoring program which includes bird banding.

Banquet
A final piece to their success includes their annual CWA Wood Duck Program Banquet that raises financial support and specifically benefits the Wood Duck Program.
It is typically an April event that brings together folks from all over the State to Fairfield, California. Attendees may or may not have an active interest in waterfowl hunting, but undoubtedly all have a passion for Wood Ducks. It's a showcase for collaborative conservation at its best.

Are You the Next Generation?
The CWA Wood Duck Program is actively searching for the organizers and leaders of the future. The volunteers that have made the program a long-term success are interested in speaking with individuals that want to drive the program's legacy.
Maybe that's you, or you know of someone that would be a good candidate. Either way, give Robert a holler.
