Youth Waterfowlers' Day - November 19, 2011

The youth are our future.

Eventually they will become the stewards of everything on this planet, including duck and goose hunting. It's a pair of big shoes to fill given the challenges we face. Though many of our children have no idea how they will or can impact the future of waterfowling, unless we give them the chance to pursue the sport, and discover if it is for them or not, the opportunity for our kids to make a difference will never exist.

It is in the spirit of opportunity, that IronBands.com has co-founded a special waterfowling day for our youth. We have chosen the third Saturday in November of each year as Youth Waterfowlers' Day™.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 19, 2011 to participate.

We encourage all parents or guardians that believe a boy or girl they know might have an interest in duck or goose hunting to take them to the field, water, or marsh on this day. Even if you are unsure if they will enjoy waterfowling for the long term, we encourage you to allow them to give it a try anyways. You just may find they have other interests related to the sport such as biology, conservation, or ecology. These future roles are important too. You may also discover they simply love waterfowling.

This event is also the ideal occasion to help teach our future waterfowlers the importance of practicing excellent field skills. You might use the Field Etiquette HuntGuide as a resource.

If you find yourself unable to participate due to a schedule conflict, we encourage you to send your thoughts of support to your fellow waterfowlers, kids and adults alike.

As an adult, if you know of a youth that wants to hunt on this day, and would appreciate the opportunity to hunt with an adult waterfowler, then drop us a note.

Or if you are in the position to offer a youth waterfowler either an adult mentored duck or goose hunt, then contact us too.

IronBands.com hopes to see as many young waterfowlers in the field as possible, and looks forward to everyone having a great time.
