Lost or Stolen Waterfowl Bands Recovery Program

stolen-missing-duck-goose-bandsIn light of the recent theft of Jeff Foiles' goose and duck bands, owner of Foiles Migrators, along with his other hunting gear from his truck at the Game Fair in Anoka, MN on the night of August 6, 2010, IronBands.com has initiated a new program to hopefully recover his as well as other lost or stolen bands.

We have received emails from other waterfowlers in the past about lost or stolen bands, but it was not until last night that we realized we could possibly do something about the losses.

If you or one of your hunting partners loses one or more duck or goose bands, you can post them here on the site.

Scroll to the bottom of HuntSkills to see the Lost or Stolen Bands section, and add them there.    HuntSkills...

We believe making the band numbers available to others will help deter band theft and encourage recovery of the iron as the band numbers are easily traceable since each set of numbers is unique. Waterfowlers as well as law enforcement can then use the band numbers for the positive identification of suspect iron, and the eventual return of the waterfowl bands to their rightful owner.

We wish Jeff and any other waterfowlers that are victims of theft, the speedy recovery of their belongings.     This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Awesome idea
Thats awesome of you guys to do that. Taking a banded bird is a true trophy and the idea of stealing someones makes me sick. Good to se just how many others are as bothered. Hope Jeff gets hold of them about 15 min before the first officers do....

Thanks Brother
We know if someone stole our gear which some of it represents many memories, we would be sick too. It's just our small way of trying to help out a fellow waterfowler.

Thanks again for the kind words, and we hope his gear is recovered quickly.

Swamp Gypsy
Last year I started duck hunting again after five long years. My return was fabulous the first two days. Day three I lost waders calls and a blind bag in parking lot bandit. A two minute stop for a soda was very expensive.

Crooks
Sorry to hear that brother. Gas stations can be a hot spot for thefts, as we have heard of similar stories. What comes around goes around, so I am sure they will pay their dues some other way...

Stolen Stuff
I agree that stealing another hunters stuff is a crappy move on the thrives part but then again they are theives and don't care. Most have no idea what they are stealing when they steal the bands and the calls and they throw them away or in the trash. To them it is just stuff.

Now I have to say anyone who leaves their gun in their car and their hunting stuff in plain sight and doesn't lock their car door even for a soda stop is asking for trouble and probably has not lived in CA... e

Simply put never leave guns and things that are of importance in your vehicle especially in sight. I have learned over the years never to trust anyone and although that is unfortunate I still have all my stuff.....

I have about 34 goose bands you can have (I realize the loss of memories, but thought these may help), let me know and I will drop in mail today.

Over the years I have lost chain saws and other tools out of my truck from a quick Pepsi and pit stop. Of course, everything was engraved and nothing was ever returned. I think the idea is great I hope that it works. I hate losing gear when it is my own fault. What is really sad about someone stealing your bands is the low life are now I am sure claiming that they are their bands and kills

Mike I would be proud to call you a friend. That is an outstanding offer to make. Best of luck to everyone and safe hunting

stolen bands
i have hunted for many years to have gotten my 25 bands. Its been a many cold and wet days over the water. I hate what happen to Jeff he's a hell of a hunter but thats what this hunting world is comeing to some people have lost their pride in what the sport means. Sorry people think jewlery is everything and its not its the brotherhood between hunter. I love this sport and people that steal and lie give us hunters a bad name. I hope the person or persons that stole Jeffs bands never get to get the feeling all us true hunter get when a bird fall with silver on a blood red leg. Jeff i got bands to share with u i hope u get your things back .

Fall Out
Well,

What can we say about the Foiles mess that has not already been shared in the media. Not much really, other than our hearts were and still are in the right place to helping others recover their bands.
